Mable L. Johns departed this life on Saturday, January 13th, 2024 at her residence in Appomattox, VA. She was born March 5, 1947. Preceding her in death were her parents Clarence John and Lucy Petty Johns; one daughter, Arnita Goode; one son, Stephen Hamlett; three sisters and one brother.
She joined Galilee Baptist Church at an early age. Mable later joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Appomattox, VA. She was very active in church singing on the choir and serving as president of the Usher Ministry until her health declined.
Mable is survived by two daughters, Lolita Preston and Felicia Rose (Jimmy); one sister, Garry Andrews; two brothers, Melvin Johns (Carolyn) and Theodore Johns (Mary Lou); six grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; special friend Aaron Henry (Mickey), a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Special thanks to caregivers Ashonti Scott, Sharon Cottingham, Sally Pankey, Cawanaky Page, Chanel Christian, Rose Wheeler, and Hospice Staff.
A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Johns will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Appomattox, Va. She will lie in repose one hour before the funeral service. Public viewing will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 12 noon until 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
